NACE Student Program

In 2007, the Honolulu Chapter implemented the NACE internship program and the response was great. We had eight interns from various areas; University of Hawaii, Hawaii Pacific University, Germany, California and even a high school student. The interns worked with various NACE member companies shadowing their leaders on the event days and working behind the scenes to see what it takes to put on an event.

The Internship program got positive reviews from both interns and NACE members.

Here are some details to help you make your decision on whether to participate in our NACE internship program

  • Internship is non-paying
  • Interns are assigned based on their availability and matched to the NACE member’s requested schedule
  • Interns shadow NACE members on the job, can assist in paperwork, phone calls and sit through client meetings.
  • The goal is to give interns the opportunity to 'see' the industry behind the scenes as well as the front of the house and to assess whether this is the chosen profession they'd like to take.
  • Evaluations are completed by each NACE member for all interns at the ed of program (March-October 2008)
  • NACE members are welcome to job offer any intern (one of our 2007 interns is now working part-time with a NACE member as she finishes school)

If you are interested in the NACE internship program, please submit your resume and available dates to Susan O’Donnell at aloha.ido@att.net or Dianna Shitanishi at info@hawaiiweddingsandevents.com.
